Vitamin C

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is one of the most sought-after ingredients in supplements. Historically, the primary use of ascorbic acid was to prevent scurvy (hence the name).

Today, the range of vitamin C uses is incomparably wider. In the cosmetics industry, its rejuvenating properties are particularly valued. This is because vitamin C fights free radicals, which cause m. in. breakdown of collagen, a protein that is an essential element in the tissue structure of the skin, a process more widely known as skin aging. Thus, ascorbic acid effectively prevents the formation or development of wrinkles.

In addition, vitamin C effectively inhibits excessive ultraviolet rays on the skin surface and thus prevents aesthetic defects of the skin - freckles and hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C in cosmetics finds use as an antioxidant. Stimulating the proper functioning of the antioxidant system determines the delay of skin aging processes.

The importance of vitamin C as a factor in minimizing the risk of cancer has also been proven. At the same time, vitamin C has no toxic properties, and any excess is effectively excreted from the body.
