Chestnut Tree

Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) is a popular tree species in the soapberry family. It is native to the Balkan Peninsula, and is grown in almost all of Europe, including Poland.

Horse chestnut fruit extract, one of the best-studied plant medicinal resources, has long been known for its properties of sealing and strengthening blood vessels. Therefore, it has successfully found application in medicine.

Horse chestnut extract is used for the feeling of so-called heavy legs, in the prevention and treatment of mild edema, treatment of varicose vein symptoms, as well as to accelerate the absorption of post-traumatic hematomas.

The action of preparations with horse chestnut is mainly responsible for the escinin contained in them. Aescin and other substances contained in horse chestnut seed extract show protective effects on blood vessels and anti-inflammatory properties. Reduce the permeability of the capillary walls, have an anti-edematous effect, and improve the elasticity and state of tension of the walls of the venous vessels.
