Liquorice

Licorice root has been used for centuries as an excellent food additive, thanks to its extremely intense sweetness. However, the attention of the ancients also did not escape the medicinal properties of this sweet plant.

The base component of licorice, responsible for m. in. for its taste is glycyrrhizinic acid. This organic compound exhibits outstanding soothing and regenerative properties. Irritated skin, after application of licorice extract, heals quickly, and reddened skin returns to its natural color, while relieving pain. This property is perfectly complemented by the antiseptic effect of licorice, which inhibits the penetration of bacteria into the wound. Interestingly, the plant can be successfully used in some cases as an alternative to steroid drugs.

Ingredients contained in licorice root show the ability to neutralize the effects of ultraviolet radiation, producing a natural protective film on the surface of the skin. Glycyrrhizinic acid, a characteristic of licorice, is also an excellent moisturizer and a recognized antioxidant. These properties allow the skin cared for with licorice to retain its long-lasting youthfulness, attractive appearance and freedom from wrinkles and all signs of aging.
