Immaculate peppercorn

Immaculate peppercorn (Vitex agnus-castus) belongs to the light family. Occurs naturally in the Mediterranean basin, northern Africa, western and central Asia, and eastern and southern Europe. Flowers from July to August in light pink or pinkish-red color. Immaculate peppercorn got its name from its fruits, which, when dried, deceptively resemble red peppercorns and quite successfully imitate their taste.

Immaculate peppercorn is not only a charming ornamental shrub, but also a great raw material in the pharmaceutical industry. In cosmetics, immaculate is used in preparations to prevent skin imperfections, in products designed for oily skin, prone to eczema and acne. The extract of immaculate peppercorn normalizes sebaceous gland function, reduces skin inflammation, and is also an excellent source of antioxidants that fight free radicals, so it has an anti-aging effect.

Its pituitary stimulating action has been used to treat many hormonal disorders manifested by premenstrual syndrome. It has been noted that women who regularly drink the infusion of immaculate peppercorn do not have skin problems in the days before the onset of menstruation. All the more likely to be used by ladies with hormonal disorders resulting from an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone.
