Lactic acid

Lactic acid has found recognition in the cosmetic industry due to its versatile applications and effectiveness in replacing similarly acting synthetic counterparts. Lactic acid is an acid of the AHA (alpha-hydroxy) group. Its properties were already appreciated in ancient times, when one of the most popular methods of body care were baths in milk, and especially - rubbing containing significant amounts of this acid, curdled milk.

Lactic acid is an excellent peeling agent. Effectively cleanses the skin by removing the remains of dead tissue. Due to its chemical properties, it can be used in higher concentrations, which allows to intensify the peeling effect. It has been proven that lactic acid protects and strengthens the lipid barrier of the epidermis, which allows the skin cells to retain the right amount of water and thus maintain optimal hydration.

Lactic acid has also been praised as an ingredient that stimulates an increase in collagen production, keeping the skin fresher longer and resisting the effects of aging. This action also reduces wrinkles, sagging, as well as eliminates unsightly discoloration and minor imperfections on the surface of the skin. This ingredient also helps prevent skin blemishes, especially acne, giving the skin a beautiful, healthy and youthful appearance.
