Bearberry

The bearberry is a representative of the plants of the heath family occurring natively in the Arctic and temperate zones of the northern hemisphere. As an imported species, it has spread to various regions of the world, including Poland. In appearance it resembles the blueberry and is therefore often confused with it.

Bearberry is appreciated primarily for its high content of arbutin, a glycoside valued by doctors and cosmetologists alike. This is because this substance has a brightening effect on hyperpigmentation of various backgrounds, including acne lesions, sun spots and even age spots, effectively preventing the formation of new ones.

Regular use of preparations with bearberry leaf extract inhibits the synthesis of tyrosine, an amino acid that determines the formation of melanin, which is the pigment of human skin and hair. Inhibition of melanin production results in visibly brighter complexion and reduced pigmentation of blemishes.

In addition to its undoubted brightening effect, bearberry, thanks to its high content of tannins and triterpenes, also exhibits antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. These actions have resulted in high effectiveness in the fight against acne and eczema and skin aging.
