Silicones

Silicone oils, popularly called silicones, belong to a diverse group of synthetic chemical compounds. Their structure is based on organic silicon. Silicone molecules have a polymeric structure, which gives them specific physicochemical properties. Thanks to their diverse structure, silicones have found application in many sectors of the economy, including the cosmetics industry.

Silicones are odorless, extremely easy to apply, and their use gives a pleasant feeling of smoothness. Silicone oils do not leave a sticky or whitening effect on the skin. Due to the above-mentioned features, silicones are excellently used as an ingredient in moisturizing balms, body wash products, foundations and fluids, as well as hair care and styling products. The purpose of silicones, as an ingredient in shampoos and conditioners, is to gloss the hair, smooth it and thicken it.

Unfortunately, the use of shampoos with silicones can be detrimental to the hair in the long term. Silicones create a thin, invisible protective film, which is usually resistant to washing off with water. This makes it difficult for nutrients to reach the hair structure. After prolonged use, hair that is seemingly silky and shiny gradually becomes drier and duller. Hair deprived of nutrients is also much more brittle. It can therefore be assumed that silicones as a component of shampoos are more of a temporary rescue than real care that could restore hair vitality and strength. In addition, removing the silicone coating requires the use of preparations that can be extremely destructive to the lipid layer of the skin.

For the above reasons, you will not find silicones in MACROVITA shampoos.

As natural products, MACROVITA shampoos truly care for hair - they do not weigh it down or irritate the scalp, and provide the hair with valuable, natural substances that are friendly to the scalp and the hair itself. Importantly, from the point of view of natural cosmetics that are friendly to the environment - silicones are not biodegradable. For this reason, they are also not ingredients of MACROVITA shampoos.
