Propylene glycol

Propylene glycol (PPG) is an alcohol in the group of dihydroxy alcohols, or diols. Under normal conditions, glycol takes the form of an odorless, viscous and slurried liquid. In industry, it is most widely used as an ingredient that gives cosmetics the desired texture and as an ingredient that moisturizes the skin.

The substance is considered extremely harmful if ingested. It can damage the liver, kidneys, and also affect the nervous system. In the production process, glycols are often contaminated with ether, which has been shown to have carcinogenic properties, as well as damaging the genetic structure of cells.

In the widespread use of polypropylene glycol as an ingredient in cosmetic products, degradation of hair structure is observed, as well as skin irritation. Allergic reaction, manifested by itching and rash, is also a common complaint. Another aspect of the negative effects of glycols on the skin is, when combined with sebum, their ability to clog pores and thus cause inflammation of the skin. In turn, accidental contact of the substance with the eyes can cause the occurrence of inflammation of the eyeball and conjunctiva, which is manifested by tearing, burning and swelling of the eyelids. Propylene glycol can also damage the lipid-protein structure of cell membranes.

For the above reasons, all cosmetics from MACROVITA do not contain propylene glycol.

As natural products, cosmetics MACROVITA truly care for the body and hair. Cosmetics MACROVITA are friendly to hair and skin, providing it with valuable, natural substances often sourced from organic plantations - free of pesticides and artificial fertilizers.
